About Harza Alumni

Former Harzoids have been meeting annually for a luncheon in downtown Chicago, usually the first or second week of December. The attendees are mostly local, although each year a number of Alumni from out-of-town attend. All people on the current email list are sent invitations. The current Alumni address list was developed over the years largely by word of mouth due to the luncheon.  If you wish to be added to the email list, please send in your information as described on the contact page.

About this website

This website was started accidentally when Pete Conroy (who has been sending out Harza News emails for some time - there are over 150 people on the mailing list) talked with now-deceased Harza Alum Jim Bennett about better ways to collect information for the news updates without compromising the email privacy desired by some members of the mailing list.  Jim consulted his daughter, Kathy Bennett, a former computer engineer, who is also a Harza Alum, having worked for two summers while she was in school.  She created this website as an example of what might be useful.

Founding editor, Jim Bennett, passed away on September 6th, 2013, not long after editing the 12th issue of the newsletter.  Steve Ziegler is now the main contact for the newsletter and website.

Who's that in the picture?  That's Jim Bennett in 1999.
